Mia

Mia is a 4 year old female Congo African Grey.  Andrea wanted Mia to be her bird and would visit her at C & L Aviary while she was weaning.  After Mia got home, she decided she was going to bond to Rick instead of Andrea!

As is the case with Greys, Mia is one smart, spoiled grey birdie.  She goes on vacation with the Rowlands every year to the shore.  She has her own “birdie board” that she sits on (in her carrier) as she is pushed  around the motel swimming pool.  The motel staff looks forward to seeing her every year and are very co-operative with Rick and Andrea regarding their special requests for cleaning the room.  If it’s not too hot, Mia goes out on the beach with them.  She has her own little beach chair that her carrier sits on!  If you ask Mia if she wants to go to the beach, she gets all excited and starts flapping her wings.  She’ll even call herself a beach birdie!!

While at home, Mia likes to talk to the other birds in the Rowland’s flock (she even hollers at Lola if she gets too loud).  She also teases the cat and our daughter Carlie.  Mia and Carlie have been known to argue with each other.
